Ruriá Duprat is conductor, arranger, composer, producer and pianist.
He studied at the Berklee College of Music, on a full scholarship through Quincy Jones, and has written and produced music for 17 feature films and more than 1000 soundtracks for TV, in addition to several productions for CDs and DVDs.
Duprat has been working with some of the most famous Brazilian and international artists and has had his compositions and arrangements performed by numerous symphonic orchestras in Brazil, the United States, Europe and Asia. Besides arranging and conducting in the Acústico MTV–Lenine” concert, winner of a Latin Grammy as Best Contemporary Pop Album category in 2007, Duprat was the Artistic Director and conductor of Diana Krall’s Live in Rio DVD.
His work as producer, arranger, pianist and Artistic Director with Randy Brecker in the album Randy in Brazil earned him an American Grammy Award in the Best Contemporary Jazz Album category in 2009.
His latest work includes the production of the LIKE Album from Ron Carter a living jazz legend, and the arrangements for the tenor Plácido Domingo’s 2017 tour

As a pianist, Ruriá has appeared at numerous jazz festivals in Europe and the US. In Brazil, he has performed for a number of household names, such as Lenine, Gilberto Gil, Seu Jorge, Tom Zé, Arnaldo Antunes, Ed Motta, Toquinho, Adriana Calcanhotto, Chico Cezar, Lulu Santos, Marlui Miranda, Carlinhos Brown and Toninho Horta, among others. Nephew of one of the most celebrated Brazilian maestros of all times, Rogério Duprat, Ruriá has arranged for several orchestras worldwide and in his home country, where he composed arrangements for the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), the Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra, São Paulo’s Jazz Symphony, Experimental Orchestra Repertory, Petrobras Orchestra and CSN Orchestra, among others. He has also been involved in international orchestra projects, such as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National des Pays de La Loire, for which he wrote concerto pieces performed by French soprano Patricia Petibon. Additionally he wrote a concert performed by Brazilian singer-songwriter Lenine and a choir of 1400 singers at Le Zenith, in Paris.
He is frequently hired for the “modern approach of his arrangements”.
Mr. Duprat also performed as an arranger, conductor and pianist on Lenine’s MTV Unplugged album and was awarded a Latin Grammy in the Best Contemporary Pop Album category in 2007.
As well as having worked with international names such as Stanley Jordan, Angelique Kidjo, Ray Lema and Jane Monheit, his most notable work was as artistic director and conductor at the live performances for Diana Krall’s 2009 international DVD release, Live in Rio.
Also in 2009, Ruriá was the Grammy Award winner in the Best Contemporary Jazz Album category as producer, artistic director, arranger and pianist for the album Randy in Brazil, which he himself helped idealize. The album was released in the US, European and Asian markets and was recorded and mixed at his own recording studios – Banda Sonora – in São Paulo, Brazil.
In 2015, Duprat produced, arranged and conducted the orchestra in the album LIKE, with the Ron Carter Quartet, featuring Vitoria Maldonado and recorded at Banda Sonora Studios.
In the same year, he was invited to be the curator and chairman of the board of Samsung e-festivals – Song and Instrumental.
Also in 2015, he was awarded with two Lions in the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival: a golden one for his work with Coca Cola-Dolby and a bronze one for his work with IBM.
Since 2015, he has been the curator of the Samsung e-festival Instrumental e Song, with over 1.200 participants per year.
In 2016 he executed the Musical Artistic Coordination for Andrea Bocceli’s Brazilian tour.
In 2016 e 2017, he was awarded with five Lions in the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival, with works to Coca Cola and IBM.
In 2017, he wrote arrangements for Plácido Domingo’s international tour.
